Amp Street - Styles from Bangkok

Give us an overview your shop. What kind of merchandise, style, theme, etc…
We have 3 shops right now and a forth is on the way. All 3 are located in Bangkok and the fourth will open in Chiang Mai which is in the north of Thailand. All shops carry slightly different products but the main thing are men tees. We also have a small tattoo studio in one of our shops. Apart from shirts AMP also offers Denim, Bags, Caps, different accessories and artwork on canvas. Our designs are influenced by streetart or graffiti, tattoo art and graphic design.
How long have you had the shop / been selling shirts?
Since 2002
How did you get started selling shirts?
Pretty much the willing to make a living with a work we all can enjoy brought us there. We don’t regret that way so far.
Anything interesting about your name? A story behind it?
AMP Street is short for Amplified Street. The name basically came because the streets, the people and therefore our surrounding have a great influence on our work. We take the input and channel it in our products. Intensified.
What are some of your most popular items?

Do you have a particular creative process you follow?
Not a particular one. Like I said, its much about our direct environment. We write down our ideas and visualize them constantly. And every now and then something worthwhile comes out of that.
What advice would you offer someone starting out selling t-shirts?
The best advice I can give is not to hesitate too long. Make up your mind if you really want to do it and then do it or don’t. No half hearted attempts. Act quick and if you did a mistake, fail quick and learn from. To much planning and thinking wastes your time.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned about being in the t-shirt business?
Treat each and every customer as your friend.

Hind sight is 20/20. What do you wish you would have done differently?
I advised not to hesitate too long and plan too much. Well, I think I did exactly that and if I could I’d definitely do that differently now.
What kind of advertising do you do?
At the moment it most is over our offline stores and by word of mouth.
Approximately what is your sales volume?
500 - 1000 month
