I haven’t got a clue at to whether the Hanalei Surf Shop Shirt is fictitious or real, or where it might exist, but apparently Ben Affleck is a fan. In any event I actually like the tee.

Crow Prisoner from R.A.G. New York

I received an interesting tee from R.A.G. New York last week. While the I’m not biggest fan of ‘Affliction’ styled/graphic urban stuff, I like the Prisoner Crow sample. Cool foil/silver printing over a graphic that fills the full length of the tee front and back. R.A.G. has been around a long time and has a number of brick and mortars throughout their home town of New York. They’ve got a lot more than tees as well, some interesting polos, hoodies, short, blazers, you name it. Everything is very affordably priced as well.

T-Shirt Spotting at the ESPYs

The ESPYs are one those Hollywood events where it’s not surprising you end up with a lot of t-shirts on the red carpet, or blue carpet as the case may be. Here’s a few highlights including Mekhi Phifer, Playmate Holly Madison and Brandon Jacobs, among others. And we couldn’t help but throw in a couple Playmate who’s shirts have only been painted on. That still counts right?

CollarFree Has Lots to Like

Not even sure where to start with these guys. So much to like. First the name, CollarFree, one of those things I wish I’d thought of myself. Dig it. Second, the way they mail their tees - in a drawn string cloth sack. I’m sure the post office curses them, but who cares, it’s all about the details. I get a lot of stuff in the mail. Some tees are shoved in envelopes, others are uniquely packaged with care. These guys are doing it right.

And of course the tees. They’re great. Cool organic designs. Our samples were super soft with good fit. The tags have been removed so I’m not certain of the stock, but that’s fine with me. (I hate tags). Once additional detail I like is that they included a bio postcard on the designers. Nice touch. Our samples were the Regalia tee, designed by Kris Willhoite, and Freedom, by Erin Turner. Worth mentioning as well that CollarFree has a design competition. Lots of reasons to check these guys out.

Hope is Dope - Obama Tees from Thriving Ink

The closer we get to November’s election today the more politically inspired tees you’re likely to see out and about. Most of them, well, suck. Here’s a couple good alternative to the typical schtick from ThrivingInk.com. The line is called “Hope is Dope” and is done by artist AJ Dimarucot. A portion of the proceeds will also make their way to a charity.
