Just in time for Christmas, ARKA’s package was a welcome arrival at the office. Good stuff, tagless, fairly lightweight. We really dig the ARKAmedes tee (owl). Funky and simple. And Hug This, for the ‘tree hugger in all of us’ (after the jump). Definitely a shop to watch.

Halloween tees are real hit and miss. No where near as bad as Christmas themed stuff, (which is only worn by your mom), but often a bit cheesy. Every once in a while I stumble across something in my inbox that stops my tracks. I get more submissions than I can actually get to as it is, (all of which are appreciated btw), but I guess I’m just not that inspired these days. And then I hit something like Rahzo.com.

The site design immediately grabbed me, and of course so did the tees. But it was the site that engaged me. It looks different. Fresh. I dig the way the tees are presented with two photos and the photography is outstanding. Yes, a shop needs great designs, that is the point of course. But the site design bar is raised everyday, and if your site looks, or functions like crap – forget it. So nicely done Rahzo.

It’s been a while since we posted. Ages really. How many times have posted that? We’ll we’re doing a little office cleaning and found unearthed some cool tees that made it to our door, but never on the site. Shame on us. Let’s start with this one from Acropolis Apparel – the ‘Downtown’ tee. I’ve kind of digging designs lately that the bleed the bottom (pardon the pun in this case).

I’m always bummed when I find something wicked cool that’s been sitting in my in box for a month. And how could I pass up a tee named Electric Budda Head. Enclothe.com has got some crazy sweet action. Check out their blog as well to see some of this stuff going up large scale on walls. Killer.

Catching up on the some of the tees that have landed on our mail bin recently, one of which is the latest from Social-T.com. I dug this one. In light of much of the illustration style so prevalent these days it’s noce to see something that obvious came from a painting and not a drawing. I know I’m splitting hairs a bit as ‘illustration’ surely encompasses both mediums, but this has a distinct brushwork that’s very non Illustrator (the app, Adobe). Anyway, nice.

Based out of Brooklyn with roots planted firmly in India comes Chor Bazaar. An interesting mix of Bollywood, Bhangra-themed designs.

Our mission is to expand the Desi-fusion art form to another realm. We have experienced the fusion in music and literature but have hardly seen the Desi in urban apparel. Conceptually, we have appropriated from Desi life, past and present, to form graphics that will evoke memories and associations from a lifestyle gone by. Its about creating an identity that stems far beyond how mainstream portrays Desi-ness.
